Built to commemorate Alfa Romeo’s centenary and Pininfarina’s own 80th birthday, Pininfarina’s Alfa Romeo spider has debuted in Geneva, and is now named as 2uettottanta. The name may be puzzling or eccentric for many but the vehicle is designed to delineate how the future Alfa Romeo spider will look like.
With the 2uettottanta, Pininfarina has represented an idea of a simple 2-seater which is powered by a 1750cc turbo engine positioned longitudinally, which Alfa says is an obvious reference to the “1750 Veloce” of 1968, one of the many versions derived from the famous Osso di Seppia.
Labelled as Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta concept, the 2uettottanta presents the zenith of partnership between the two Italian firms. The new vehicle is more about design and pays a warm tribute to the iconic 60s-era Duetto roadster. The concept however is not only a pure styling exercise but also a project and research.
With its red bodywork inspired by the typical Alfa Romeo paintwork, 2uettottanta concept measures 1,797mm in width, 4,212.6mm in length, and 1,280mm in height and has a 2,500mm wheelbase. And apparently Pininfarina’s Alfa Romeo roadster will replace the current spider.
