Technology in future will be different and unique and if designing a vehicle for say 40 years from now, to think about the scenario becomes imperative. And here is a guy who has designed a concept for Opel but not without identifying potential customers.
Gabriel Tam not only identified the customers but also used their profiles to develop a vision for the future. The concept is named as Opel 2049 that comes out after Gabriel represented a new aesthetic direction for an Opel that relate to the brand identity.
The inspiration came from de-constructivism architectural design methodology and the designer named his concept as Glide. Gabriel used a pair of jewel like wedge shape side blades to form the side structure of the design and giving it a feel of force and engineering precision, when viewed from the outside.
The vehicle has a single driver cockpit module and covering surface flexes independently. The vehicle not only provides the user optimal aero-efficient profile (B.S alert) but also the freedom of complete storage.
On the other, there is no wheel in the concept and the interaction between the side blades and the central flexible membrane structure creates a feeling of lightness, like gliding on air.
