Well, Ferraris – old or new – attracts people equally. This proves true when three Ferraris (more than 40 years old) fetched a mammoth amount in seven figures at RM Auctions Amelia Island event in Florida. It seems that those who weren’t able to own one of these Ferraris in their wonder years struck with cash to grab them this time.

If you think it were 250 series of 1960s-era Ferraris – the GTO, California Spyder or Testa Rossa that touched new heights at auction, you are mistaken. These are the ones that came after.

The iconic Ferraris sold in seven figures are detailed here.

1) 1971 Daytona Spyder that was once owned by auto scion Edsel Ford II sold for $1,017,500 – safely inside the $1-1.25 million estimate range.

2) Alloy-bodied 275 GTB/4 in startling copper that was used as Ferrari’s North American show car in 1967 and purchased new by Luigi Chinetti was auctioned for $1,265,000.

3) And topping the bidding list was a stunning yellow 275 showpiece that fetched hefty $1.65 million.

After each Ferrari sold for such a mammoth amount, one thing becomes pretty clear that liking for Ferrari has nothing to do with recession. The brand’s cars (old in this context) will find its lovers, no matter what the prevailing conditions are.
