Unveiled at Shanghai, EN-V concept car is GM’s joint venture with Chinese partner, SAIC. The two seater electric vehicle is not only designed as a brighter, cleaner, cleverer and more convenient vehicle for tomorrow’s cities but it also maintains the core principle of personal mobility – freedom.
This concept will be showcased from May 1 to October 31, 2010 at the SAIC-GM Pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai and will be available in three versions: Jiao (Pride), Miao (Magic) and Xiao (Laugh).
Xiao was designed by GM Holden’s design team in Australia, Jiao’s looks has been penned by designers at GM Europe and Miao was designed by GM’s Design Studio in California, US. However, each version is based on the same mechanical platform.
This zero emission concept has a wheel at both ends of the lateral center line of the car. Wheels are powered by a 3kW electric motor that further gets power from lithium ion battery cells. This car has the top speed of 25mph and can run 25-mile on a full charge.
Equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) with vehicle-to-vehicle communications and distance-sensing technologies, EN-V concept can be driven by manually and autonomously.
Its ability to communicate with other vehicles will help reduce the number of vehicle accidents, and with sensor and camera systems EN-V concept can sense it vicinity, allowing it to react instantly to affliction or changes in driving conditions.
All three versions will be having seating capacity for two and weighs less than 500 kilograms. These vehicles will be measuring six feet tall, four feet wide and four feet long.
