Ferrari fans who were desperately waiting for brand’s 599 GTO to be displayed at Geneva Motor show might surely be disappointed with company’s last moment move to postpone the launch date untill April 7th, 2010.
However, those fans will surely take a sigh of relief with the revelations that Ferrari 599 GTO will be publicly unveiled in September at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The new model features a set of carbon-fiber exterior panels and a stripped-out interior and specially developed alloy wheels.
The one peculiar thing is Ferrari’s reuse of GTO tag that hasn’t been applied to one of Ferrari’s road cars since the launch of the much-revered 288 GTO in 1984. Nevertheless, Ferrari 599 GTO will be lightweight version of the 599 GTB Fiorano.
All the modifications are aimed at cutting 132 pounds from the 3,718-pound weight of the F599 Fiorano GTB. Ferrari 599 GTO gets power from an enhanced 48-valve, 6.0-liter V12 engine producing 670 horsepower and 620 NM of torque which is 30hp more than the F599 Fiorano GTB and only 10hp lower than Ferrari’s most extreme road car, Enzo.
This car is capable of racing from 0-60mph in just 3.3 seconds which is again, 0.3 seconds faster than the Ferrari Enzo. With a top speed at 210mph, this model is limited to 500 editions only and will cost half a million dollars.
