This is 2012 Ford Police Interceptor based on the Taurus and is Blue Oval’s replacement for current Crown Victoria, which was officers’ choice since mid 90s. Previewed in Las Vegas, the vehicle is now officially official.
This new police Interceptor sedan will be offered in two V6 engine versions: a basic version and a high performance model for the highway patrol. The first version will be a standard 3.5-liter V6 Duratec engine with more than 263hp and E85 capability, which is more than the Crown Vic’s current anemic V8 and more than the standard Taurus V6.
The second powertrain will probably be an all wheel drive with a twin turbo Eco-boost 3.5-liter V6 that generates 365hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. And the vehicle has 90% of its interior redesigned to meet the needs of our special police customers.
