Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has finally released photos of Venom GT supercar that has been in the making since 2007 and was to debut at Geneva Motor Show this year. The new date for its debut will be March 30, 2010.
With the lightweight Lotus Elise chassis and LS9 power plant derived from the Corvette ZR1, Venom GT is powered by supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8 that churns out a mammoth 725hp and 741 pound-feet of torque.
In addition to 275hp version, Venom GT will also be having two other variants that include a 1,000 and 1,200 hp. It will be offered with Ricardo six-speed manual gearbox, and to bring it to a stop, there are six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston units at the rear.
As per HPE, this car with lightweight carbon-fiber bodywork and wheels wrapped in Michelin PS2 tires weighs 2,400 pounds. It will be capable to race from 0-100km/h in 2.4 seconds with a top speed at 272 mph. With all these upgrades, car’s cost starting from $600,000 is not beyond expectations.
