Who isn’t waiting for the Bloodhound supersonic car’s attempt to break the land speed world record in 2011? But, the car which is intended to set a land mark on the ground for others to break (don’t know when) was facing initial hiccups to keep the vehicle flat on the ground.

However, the dangerous lift at the vehicle’s rear has been solved, as the engineers designing the world’s fastest car have found a stable configuration (zero lift) for the vehicle. This will surely bring delight to all the speed loving fans desperately waiting for the movement to come.

This 42 foot contraption is to cruise at a speed 1.4 times that of sound and shatter the existing speed record by more than 200mph. Lift at the rear was the major affliction engineers were facing but the breakthrough will allow the project to move ahead with other design areas.

Bloodhound SSC will be powered by a combination of a hybrid rocket and a jet engine from a Eurofighter – Typhoon. The claim seems promising but there remains a lot more incomplete as aero shape is not fully fixed, more work required on jet intake ducts, on the winglets that control lift, the air brakes, the large rear fin as well as to model the air flow into the car.

The project is progressing; the hurdles are gradually getting solved thus paving the way for this iconic vehicle to finally set a precedent, but the world will only believe when it will be done and over. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
