For fantatics of Zuffenhausen iron, aluminum, und schteel, very little takes the bellows to the embers like a new GT3 RS.
Spiritual heirs to the 1973 2.7 RS, one of which now trades hands at something like a jillion dollars, the RS cars offer a stripped-out interior, lightweight panels, and more power (save for the 964 RS America). They often include roll cages and lightweight seats where regulations permit, and possess a general aura of track-readiness that's left unmatched by even Porsche's highest-end models. We've been salivating over tidbits, spy shots, and conjecture since the "regular" GT3 was released at the Geneva show in 2013. And now somebody's posted a photograph of a toy.
Although it's rumored that Porsche's dropping displacement and fitting turbochargers to all 911s save the GT3 for 2015, and although the GT3 features Turbo-esque air-sucking maws punched into its widened fenders, aural evidence from Nürburgring testing suggests that the RS will retain its howling, naturally aspirated character for at least one more generation. And the 991 GT3 RSR racer is most definitely un-turbocharged, yet also features the rear intakes, a feature absent from the previous 997 RSR.

Resplendent in Java Orange (a shade which has us craving Jaffa Cakes to pair with our morning joe), the RS diecast features some deep-ish-dish rear wheels, front-fender air extractor vents, and the RS-requisite big honkin' wing. There's been plenty of wishful back-and-forth as to whether Porsche will offer a manual transmission the RS, an option they declined to provide on either the GT3 or the snot-fast Turbo/Turbo S. Autogespot, the Dutch site that posted the image of the die-cast car, seems to think that the RS will be PDK-only. We've heard concrete rumors to the contrary, but we regretfully admit that the Dutch outlet may turn out to be right. But if you'd care to go ahead and prove us wrong, Porsche, we're just dying to eat some crow.
