Dodge has been deep in this whole promotional thing involving the one-last-go-'round Mötley Crüe and Gas Monkey guy Richard Rawlings, so it only makes sense that this build video of Challenger Hellcat VIN #001 was scored by the Crüe's '89 MTV staple, "Kickstart My Heart".
What's more confusing is that after assembly and primer, a black Challenger rolls rolls out of the plant. Suddenly, a primed and masked car appears in a spray booth at Prefix, the company responsible for the immaculate paintwork on the Dodge Viper.
We assume that the decision to paint Challenger #0001 in the Viper-only Stryker Red was made as a value-added bonus at some point between the car's construction and the moment it rolled across the stage at Barrett-Jackson for a cool $825,000. Which is, as we've previously noted, roughly one Hellcat less money than the first Ferrari 458 Speciale A went for. We're sure former Chrysler honcho and noted Ferrari enthusiast Lee Iacocca was pleased. We do, however, wonder what recently departed Ferrari main man Luca di Montezemolo was feeling. Apparently, the custom paint worked a treat for the Dodge. Who says a respray ruins value?
