Mitsubishi Galant prices dropped the most this month; prices for the midsize sedan were down 4.2 percent ($559) from the month before. Just behind it was the Kia Sedona minivan and BMW 328i compact luxury car with price drops of 3.9 percent ($659) and 3.4 percent ($943), respectively.

While BMW prices slid the most last month, prices for used Audis were on the uptick in October. Leading the way was the Audi A3 hatchback, a compact luxury car that predates the A3 sedan, which is new for the 2015 model year.

Used A3 prices jumped 6 percent ($1,370) from September, and the luxury brand took the next three spots with its A6 midsize car, A5 coupe and convertible, and A4 compact car. For an example of just how much used-car prices have weakened you only need to look at this month's list of cars with price increases: There were only nine models that met our inventory criteria.

The charts detail used cars from the 2011 to 2013 model years with the biggest price drops and increases. To be eligible for the lists, a model had to have at least 250 cars in Cars.com's national inventory.
