The 2015 Ford Mustang is on display at the Paris motor show, marking its official debut in Europe. The new-generation car will be the first Mustang to be made widely available on the Continent—and Ford of Europe is ecstatic. "The new Mustang is one of the most hotly anticipated cars ever, we are very excited to now give drivers in Europe the opportunity to experience the real thing," said vice president of marketing Roelant de Waard.
It's hard to imagine American roads without the Mustang, as more than 9,000,000 of them have been sold over the last 50 years. But some of us are having a hard time imagining European roads with the Mustang (especially in England, where they'll get weird-looking right-hand-drive versions). Our in-house European colleagues are somewhat hawkish on the Mustang's long-term prospects, noting that while there is a lot of buzz right now, the car itself is somewhat big for Euro tastes (it's the land of the small hatchback, you know?) and that it may need more green tech over time to meet tightening environmental regulations. The EcoBoost four-cylinder will undoubtedly be well received as Mustangs go, but the overall prospects may indeed be limited.

Ultimately, time will tell how Europe takes to the Mustang. But based on our first tests of the car, we can say with certainty that however many Europeans end up buying one will be damn happy they did.
