The folks over at Jalopnik have uncovered scanned images of a taped-up Lexus GS F from a Japanese magazine spread, which also includes some rudimentary details on the hotter GS sedan. When it officially arrives, the 2015 GS F will join Lexus's continued assault on German sport-sedandom, and it will sit atop the GS family. However, the car in these photos (you can check out the rest of the images here) isn't exactly the real deal. That's because the magazine appears to be running a series of spy photos; the tape job and wheels on the GS F match the treatment applied to the test car captured in our most recent GS F spy-photos story.
With that said, the information included in the magazine could be speculative and should be taken with a grain of salt. Regardless, our frail grasp of Japanese means the only info we understand is a power figure that's called out in a different subtitle: 465 PS, which translates to 459 horsepower. That's 153 horsepower stronger than the standard GS's 3.5-liter V-6, and 39 ponies burlier than Audi's S6. That figure may appear fairly flaccid compared with the 550-plus-hp that the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG come packing, but it's pretty strong for a V-8 that isn't strapped with a pair of turbochargers.
- Comparison Test: 2013 Lexus GS350 vs. 2012 Audi A6 3.0T Quattro
- Comparison Test: 2014 Lexus IS350 F Sport vs. 2013 BMW 335i M Sport, Cadillac ATS 3.6
- Instrumented Test: 2013 Lexus LS460 F Sport AWD
You read that right. The Japanese publication indicates the GS F's V-8 will be a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated unit, a claim that jibes with our expectations for the sports sedan. Look for more photos and info—official or otherwise—to appear in the coming months ahead of the GS F's early-2014 reveal.
