Nissan Prices 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid

Nissan's first hybrid crossover just went on sale; the 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid starts at $35,970 for the base SV two-wheel-drive version, including an $860 destination fee. When the crossover debuted at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, Nissan claimed it would cost around $3,000 more than the V-6-powered model, and the automaker kept its word. Regular two-wheel-drive SV Pathfinders start at $32,970.

Outside, the Hybrid model nearly mirrors the regular version, but adds LED taillights and Nissan PureDrive hybrid badges. Inside, a power gauge shows output readings from the electric motor and gas engine as well as regenerative braking information. Nissan says the battery pack fits under the third row and does not impact passenger space or cargo capacity.

The front- or all-wheel-drive Pathfinder Hybrid uses a new supercharged 2.5-liter gasoline engine and a 15-kilowatt electric motor paired with a lithium-ion battery; a continuously variable automatic is the sole transmission. Nissan puts total power output at 250 horsepower and 243 pounds-feet of torque.

Two-wheel drive Pathfinder Hybrids are EPA rated at 25/28/26 mpg city/highway/combined. The gas version's 260-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 is EPA rated at 20/26 mpg city/highway (two-wheel-drive models). Nissan says the hybrid's large 19.5-gallon tank gives it an estimated driving range of 546 miles.
