It seems GT3s aren't the only modern Porsches capable of self-immolating. According to Bloomberg, a Chinese regulation authority has determined that some Cayennes and Panameras built between 2011 and 2012 have a faulty seal that can let fuel evaporate and potentially catch fire. Porsche has taken the preemptive step of recalling 13,500 vehicles globally on its own accord. No fires have been reported and very few of those cars are in the U.S.

The fuel-tank issue only applies to a gas- and hybrid-powered Panameras and Cayennes equipped with Porsche's 3.0-liter V-6 (an engine shared with several other VW Group vehicles). In the U.S., only the light-selling Panamera S hybrid and the Cayenne S hybrid were sold with 3.0-liter V-6s (in both cases, the motors were supercharged) between 2011 and 2012, so the number of affected vehicles on our shores is likely quite small. According to Porsche, an official recall notice will be sent to owners soon.
