In describing the Nissan GT-R, it is hard to avoid using superlatives, and the new GT-R NISMO is the mostest superlativest of all GT-Rs, ever. And now, the latest GT-R NISMO can claim to be far and away the most expensive Nissan ever sold in the U.S., at an eye-watering $151,585. That's a healthy $34,280 more than the next priciest GT-R model, the Track edition, which starts at $117,305.
With 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque from its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6, the GT-R NISMO is the most powerful of the four different GT-R models Nissan is offering for 2015. At 7 minutes 8.679 seconds, its lap time around Germany's famous Nürburgring racetrack is not only the quickest of any GT-R ever tested there, it's the best time of any volume production car—period.
In addition to boasting an additional 55 hp and 18 lb-ft of torque compared to "regular" GT-Rs, the NISMO gets retuned Bilstein shocks with three modes, stiffer springs, stickier tires, sturdier wheel hubs, and other chassis fortifications.
Styling changes include a revised front bumper, underbody aero modifications, and a serious rear spoiler, all meant to generate an additional 220 pounds of downforce at 185 mph compared to the standard 2015 GT-R. Unique red outlining on the body and wider, six-spoke wheels serve to help keen GT-R fans quickly identify the NISMO model.
