The hits just keep on coming for GM as the automaker is recalling yet another batch of vehicles. According to Reuters yesterday, the Detroit-based auto group is recalling more than 490,000 of its full-size pickup and SUVs, including 2014 Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras, as well as 2015 Chevrolet Tahoes, Suburbans, and GMC Yukons for ill-fitting transmission oil cooling lines. More than 170,000 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruze models powered by the 1.4-liter turbo four because of a right front axle half shaft that's subject to failure.
Sloppily fitted oil cooling lines have led to three vehicle fires in GM's trucks as leaking oil touched hot surfaces, according to the Reuters report, but no related injuries were reported. These models are brand new and essential to the automaker's bottom line; the Silverado is GM's bestselling model.
