Here, courtesy of Dutch blog Autoblog.nl, is the next-generation Audi TT sports coupe. The 2015 model was previewed via a sketch released a couple of weeks ago, and it looks about how we expected, which is to say a mixture of familiar proportions—as we previously reported, VW Group CEO Ferdinand Piëch walked back a more radical design concept—and stylistic cues derived from the Audi Allroad Shooting Brake concept from this year's Detroit auto show.
Given that we've liked every prior iteration of the TT, we also like the way this car looks, although we'd have ultimately preferred if it had advanced the breed a little further. We're not sure either current TT owners or new buyers will flock to adopt what seems like an evolutionary step forward, but the new interior—previewed by a full-size buck at CES in January—may convince them. (At least the new front end looks angry.) The cabin will debut Audi's latest-gen MMI infotainment, display technologies, and a minimalist design ethos, and appears to be where the revolutionary bug bit hardest. The car rides on VW's modular MQB architecture.
- Long-Term Test: 2013 Audi S7 Quattro
- Tested: 30-mpg 2014 Audi A7 TDI Diesel
- Tested: 354-hp, 5.2-second 2014 Audi SQ5
The car shown here is the TTS, which we should get in the U.S. powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four tuned to produce 300 horsepower or so. A base, 220-hp 2.0-liter car and a 380-hp, turbo-five-cylinder TT RS model are expected to make American landings, as well. Stay tuned for official information as the embargo lifts this afternoon, and head to Autoblog.nl for additional photography.
