Nissan has announced its concept-car lineup for the 2014 Detroit auto show, and the automaker is putting a solid emphasis on sportiness. Alongside the pair of IDx concepts Nissan showed at the 2013 Tokyo auto show is a new, yet-unnamed concept referred to only as a "sports sedan." The car's vague description is joined by the preview image you see above.
- Instrumented Test: 2014 Nissan Rogue SL AWD
- Instrumented Test: 2014 Nissan Versa Note S
- First Drive: 2015 Nissan GT-R / GT-R NISMO
While we dig the IDxs, which resemble modern-day Datsun 510s, those are old news. And besides, anything overtly "sporty" from Nissan is a big deal—especially in light of the brand's wholesale adoption of fun-killing CVT transmissions. From what we can see in the Sports Sedan teaser photo, the car features nicely sculptured and very amplified lines, as well as a sedan's take on the front-end treatment pioneered by last year's Resonance concept. It also looks very front-drive, based on the windshield's forward position. We'd wager that this could be a preview of the next-generation Maxima sedan, but we'll have to wait for Nissan to give us more information closer to the car's reveal in Detroit later this month.
