Mini's iconic coupe may have been redesigned this year, but its overall look carries over. The 2014 Mini Cooper Hardtop is several inches longer and wider than its predecessor, but its price increase is pretty tiny. When the new Hardtop goes on sale this spring, it'll start at $20,745, including a $795 destination fee; the outgoing 2013 model starts only slightly less at $20,495. Sport-tuned Cooper S models will again be available, starting at $24,395, which is $300 more than model-year 2013 versions.

Under the hood, Mini swaps the old models 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine for a pair of new turbocharged units. A 134-horsepower, turbo 1.5-liter three-cylinder powers the base model and S models use a 189-hp, turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Six-speed manual or automatic transmissions are available.

The makeover continues inside. Mini says the car's increased dimensions mean there's more passenger space and about 3 additional cubic feet of cargo room (for a total of 8.7 cubic feet). The large speedometer and tachometer now live atop the steering column, opening up the center-dash area for the optional navigation system's large screen. A backup camera is a new option this year.

Mini says customers can now begin building and ordering their new Hardtop on www.miniusa.com, and that customers can "tap into more than 10 million different combinations of accessories and colors to custom build their new Mini Hardtop."
