When Kia announced it was bringing a sports-car concept to the 2014 Detroit auto show, we declared it had "done dropped a bomb." Turns out, that bomb drop is ongoing, and the impact won't occur until the auto show itself. In the meantime, Kia has somewhat satiated us with some more details about its sporty-looking number, including its name: GT4 Stinger. (See? Even Kia's in on the armory metaphor.)

- Instrumented Test: 2014 Kia Forte5 SX Turbo
- Instrumented Test: 2014 Kia Forte Sedan Automatic
Along with the photo you see above, Kia also revealed that the GT4 Stinger concept is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four making 315 horsepower. That engine drives the rear wheels—yes!—and somewhat muddies the comparisons between the Kia and what we initially thought was its key competition, the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S. With that kind of output, the Stinger could almost be a Hyundai Genesis coupe or 2015 Mustang EcoBoost competitor. Either way, neat. Styling-wise, the concept wears giant 20-inch wheels (of course) and tall-yet-low-mounted LED headlights. Expect more info to be released before the bomb finally hits Cobo Hall in Detroit this month.
