When Hyundai whipped off the cover of its 2014 World Rally Championship contender, the i20 WRC, it also introduced a new line of go-faster models. The rally car is the first step in the Korean automaker's intent of creating "future mass-produced high-performance cars" denoted by N badging. We'd like to think that "N" stands for "Naughty," but the letter represents the company's Namyang R&D center in Korea—never mind the fact that the i20 WRC was developed in Alzenau, Germany.

As to N's ramifications for the U.S., well, we R curious N a little confused. Hyundai already sells the Genesis, the Genesis coupe, and soon the Veloster Turbo in higher-performance guises under the "R-Spec" badge. So either the brand sells two levels of performance offerings under two single-letter monikers, or one of those names has to go. Hyundai's official response: "Stay tuned."
