How hip are Ford and BMW? So hip they've decided to launch the 2015 Mustang and 2015 M4 coupe in different video games, where players can now drive them before anyone else gets behind the wheel of them for real. This unprecedented move actually isn't all that unprecedented, since Chevrolet last year put its C7 Corvette Stingray into Gran Turismo 5 before the official reveal; players could "drive" the car, complete with a bodywork-obscuring layer of testing camouflage and non-final specs. Fast-forward to this week, and the Mustang has appeared in Need for Speed: Rivals, and the BMW's showed up in Gran Turismo 6.

Our esteemed news editor, Austin Lindberg, has already purchased the M4 in GT6 and reports that "it's pretty good," but we promise you our first drive of an actual M4 will have at least two or three more words than his assessment of the digital version. As for the Mustang, we haven't played Need For Speed: Rivals, but based on the video NFS and Ford released, it appears as though the new pony car can jump tremendous distances and crash into many things without breaking. Of course, we're betting the real deal is slightly more fragile, but, again, we'll need to wait for a formal real-world test to be sure. There's also a video of the M4 in Gran Turismo 6, but it's not nearly as exciting. You can watch both below, and if you play either game, you can also try both cars out, too.
