Hot on the heels of the first video of James Bond's new Aston Martin DB10 revving its sonorous engine, we're hearing reports that the villain in the next Bond movie will drive a suitably evil car: The Jaguar C-X75 concept car. Apparently, the fact that Jaguar canceled production plans for the jaw-dropping supercar couldn't stop SPECTRE.
Autocar reports that the baddie in the 24th Bond flick, titled SPECTRE, may pilot the low-slung, villainous British supercar on screen. The vehicle was originally planned as a million-dollar-plus hybrid screamer, with an electric motor at each wheel powered by a sci-fi gas turbine generator. The turbine was ditched for a more conventional four-cylinder generator, along the lines of the BMW i8 hybrid speedster, but ultimately the whole project was sadly scrapped. Autocar says the Jaguar will use a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 for movie duty.
Jaguar so far has not confirmed this rumor, only stating that an official announcement will come out in 2015. But a few subtle hints on social media have caught our eyes. Here's Aston Martin, using the hashtag "GoodToBeBond" in its tweet announcing the Aston Martin DB10 as 007's new ride:

"Good to be Bond" sure sounds to us like a riff on Jaguar's "Good to be Bad," the Coventry cat's latest ad campaign featuring a whole cast of Jaguar-driving British super-villains.

Are we seeing nonexistent connections here, ascribing meaning to mere coincidence? Or, like Bond himself, is this our well-honed spy sense kicking in, uncovering a secret plot well before it's unveiled to the world? We like to think the latter, but we'll have to wait to find out.
