When Honda's U.K. subsidiary, Top Gear, and racing outfit Team Dynamics worked together to fabricate the world's most insane lawn mower last year, we were blown away. The Mean Mower, a nearly stock-appearing Honda HF2620 lawn tractor, boasted 109 horsepower, a six-speed sequential gearbox, and an estimated 130-mph top speed. When we got word Honda recently tried for the top speed world record for lawn mowers, our excitement welled again.
Sure enough, Honda's Mean Mower easily snatched the top-speed prize, with a two-way average of 116 mph. We really can't get over how fantastic it is that a major manufacturer sought such a fantastically pointless goal and succeeded, though we can't seem to shake one part: Honda promised us 130 mph. So we expected 130 mph, damn it!

Now, we're fairly sure the gent who strapped himself to this missile masquerading as a lawn mower would slap us five ways to Sunday for whining over a measly 14 mph. To him, we'd say: "You're already pulling thread from the seam of death at 116—130 only would make your efforts more worth it." Our machismo aside, consider us in awe of this feat.
