Out of all the four-wheeled one-offs and anomalies swarming Las Vegas during the annual SEMA show, few are actually producible. That's starting to change, though, and now SEMA is becoming a place where manufacturers float "concepts" for possible special editions. Every now and then, one or two actually make it into production. Case(s) in point: the new 2015 Corvette Stingray Atlantic and Pacific Design Editions, which Chevy just announced will be in showrooms later this year.
GM first displayed the two concepts along with the PS3-game inspired "Gran Turismo" concept at the 2013 SEMA show. The Pacific Design package is inspired by West Coast drivers who take track their cars on weekends. (Like they don't do that anywhere else?). Available only on coupes equipped with the Z51 package in 2LT or 3LT trims, the Pacific Design package includes a carbon-fiber hood, a carbon-fiber weave on the removable roof panel, a satin-black front splitter, and rocker extensions. It will come in Torch Red, Black, Arctic White, Blade Silver, and new-for-'15 Shark Gray. Also included are satin-black full-length racing stripes, black wheels with a red stripe and Stingray center caps; red brake calipers; unique splash guards; a rear license-plate frame; and a "carbon flash" treatment on the rear spoiler, outside mirrors, and exterior badges. On the interior, the Pacific package brings competition sport seats in red or black, carbon-fiber interior trim, Stingray doorsill plates and floor mats, and a gray car cover.
The Stingray Atlantic package is described, somewhat incongruously, as "inspired by the luxury and performance of private jets seen at European vacation destinations." So of course—like all private jets—this one is a convertible only. Offered exclusively with the Z51 package, the Atlantic Design package is available in all standard Corvette colors. Exterior modifications include a Z06-inspired front splitter, rocker extensions, a rear lower diffuser, and gray-painted headlamp housings, hood accents, and tonneau trim pieces. A Stingray adorns the floor mats and the underhood liner; there are unique splash guards and a rear license-plate surround; and "Chrome Torque" wheels also come along for the flight; er, ride. And what private-jet themed car would be complete without a set of custom-fitted luggage?

Also of note, as with other 2015 models, the new special-edition Vettes are available with the bitchin' new Performance Data Recorder, which, given its track-day proclivities, would be particularly worthwhile on the Pacific edition, we think. Now if only we could convince Chevy to build the Gran Turismo model….
