A juicy bit of automotive news that we've hoping to hear has now reached cyberspace: The 415-hp Chevrolet SS sport sedan will finally get a six-speed manual-transmission option, as well as GM's magnetic ride control. Chevy's sweet-driving four-door went on sale with only a six-speed automatic.
The report originated with Motor Trend. We called Chevrolet to check the veracity of the claim and received the standard "we don't comment on future product" line. (It's worth noting that the report is credited to one of the magazine's editors and not an internal GM source.) We'll throw a dash of our own giddiness into the boiling pot of excitement over a row-your-own SS sedan—after all, there's no better way to pilot a sports sedan than with a proper three-pedal setup—but we can't say the SS necessarily needs magnetic ride control. It wouldn't be a bad thing, although we've found the base, coil-sprung setup to be quite good.

If the report is true, then you can expect the manual-equipped SS to hit the market sometime this summer.
