When Hyundai's redesigned large sedan goes on sale later this month, it'll start at $38,950, including destination. That's $2,830 more than the 2014 version, but Hyundai promises more standard content in the 2015 Genesis.
2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan: First Look
The new Genesis rides a 2.9-inch-longer wheelbase and aside from fresh exterior styling, gets new controls borrowed from Hyundai's Equus flagship luxury sedan, including an available 9.2-inch center display screen.
For 2015, the Genesis sedan comes with rear-wheel drive or a new all-wheel-drive system. The base price nets you the 3.8-liter V-6 trim in rear-wheel drive. Adding all-wheel drive ups the price to $41,450. Jumping up to the rear-wheel-drive-only 5.0-liter V-8 brings the starting price to $52,450; all prices include a $950 destination fee. Both engines continue to use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Hyundai says the new model delivers much more standard equipment compared to the outgoing sedan. Standards include a navigation system with an 8-inch screen, rearview camera, paddle shifters, hill hold control, power folding outside mirrors, driver knee airbag, power height adjustable passenger seat, power lumbar passenger seat, HD radio, one-touch up power windows in the backseat and rain sensing wipers.
All-wheel-drive V-6 models add heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and headlamp washers. V-8 versions add standards like LED fog lamps, quad exhaust, illuminated door sill plates, and matte finish wood trim and aluminum trim.
The 2015 Genesis comes in high compared to the base rear-wheel-drive Chrysler 300 sedan, which starts at $31,890, but low against front-wheel-drive versions of other competitors like the Cadillac XTS ($45,525) and Lincoln MKS ($41,585); all prices include destination.
