2014 Jeep Cherokee Real-World Cargo Space

Cherokee_cargo

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is an impressive small-to-midsize SUV that pairs excellent ride quality with plenty of gadgets and technology in addition to a robust off-road system in the Cherokee Trailhawk trim level.

2014 Jeep Cherokee Expert Review

The Cherokee's 54.9 cubic feet of cargo room isn't as laudable considering that's not much more space than the less-expensive Jeep Compass (53.6) or Jeep Patriot (53.9) offer, plus the Cherokee comes up short on cargo room compared to many competitors. Occupants will ride in complete comfort thanks to its generous passenger dimensions, but the cargo area is still compact and bested by the roomier Chevrolet Equinox (63.7), Subaru Forester (74.7), Ford Escape (67.8), Honda CR-V (70.9) and Toyota RAV4 (73.4).

A sliding second row that extends the cargo area a few inches helps make the most out of the cargo area, as does a cargo management system with a rail and latch system for attaching accessory bags and other items.

See how well common items fit into the cargo area in the animation below.
