The 2014 Honda Civic's sport-themed variant, the Si, is set to arrive at dealerships Wednesday in coupe form, with the sedan version to follow two weeks later. The coupe starts at $23,580 and the sedan at $23,780 (both prices include a $790 destination charge), a $275 increase from predecessors. Honda promises that for the nominal price increase, buyers will get more power, a retuned suspension and upgraded interior.

According to the automaker, the retuned exhaust system boosts output from the 2.4-liter four-cylinder in both the coupe and sedan by 4 horsepower to 205 and 4 pounds-feet of torque to 174; the engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The suspension also has been retuned for sportier performance. Fuel economy is unchanged from 2013 at 22/31 mpg city/highway for both the coupe and sedan.

In addition, the coupe gets exterior updates that include 18-inch performance-style aluminum-alloy wheels (up 1 inch); a more aggressive hood, front fenders and headlights; new taillight lenses and side mirrors; a unique grille, lower front-bumper garnish and rear air diffuser; and a large wing spoiler. The interior also plays up the sport theme with Si-exclusive seat fabric, black-and-red trim and a "race-inspired, carbon-fiber-style" audio-panel design. Common to both the coupe and sedan are standard tech features including a 7-inch touch-screen with the HondaLink multimedia system, passive entry with push-button start and an expanded-view driver's mirror and Honda LaneWatch.

The Civic Si will be available in seven trim levels, four for the coupe and three for the sedan. Trims, followed by prices with destination, are as follows:

  • Base coupe, $23,580
  • Coupe with summer tires, $23,780
  • Coupe with navigation, $25,080
  • Coupe with summer tires and navigation, $25,280
  • Base sedan, $23,780
  • Sedan with summer tires, $23,980
