The build-up to the dress-up party that is the SEMA show is in full swing with a boatload of concepts from Ford—both Focus STs and Fusions—and the Chrysler Group already on their way to Vegas. Now it's Chevrolet's turn, and the bow-tie brand is sending a handful of Sparks, Sonics, and a Cruze to the strip to fly the General's flag. Follow the jump to find out which of Chevy's SEMA cars makes us squirm and have a look at the rest of the brand's compact crew. Pink Out Spark Cancer Awareness The only way the Pink Out Spark (pictured above) could get any, er, pinker, is if it was blasting The Truth About Love—that's Pink's latest release, for those who aren't hep, as the kids say—from its speakers. The exterior is finished with Techno Pink paint and adorned with pink-ribbon graphics. But the pink doesn't stop there; the interior gets pink accent piping, pink pillar trim, a pink suede headliner, and amazingly a pink instrument panel. In non-pink-related upgrades, the Pink Out Spark gets a Z-Spec grille and a body kit, both of which are available through Chevrolet Accesories.
The Color Run Spark It might seem a little bit ridiculous for the 84-hp Spark to be a pace car, but that's exactly what The Color Run Spark is. You see, The Color Run Spark serves as the pace car for The Color Run—a 5K race in which people are doused in dyed corn starch for each kilometer they run. This Spark gets a custom graphics kit to illustrate just what you might look like after a race, if you happen to be shaped like a micro hatchback. The same Chevy Accessories body kit and Z-Spec grille from the Pink Out Spark are applied here. The Color Run Spark also gets stainless steel pedals and doorsills, and white-finished 15-inch wheels in the hope that they'll get doused with color like any other participant of The Color Run.
Spark Sinister Chevy says that the Spark Sinister combines the aesthetics of the rally world with night racing; a combination we assume is something like a real-world Fast and Furious led by Sébastien Loeb. The Sinister gets some extensive bodywork modifications, including flared wheel arches, a rear wing, and a new, air-gulping front facia as well as a new rear fascia with twin exhaust outlets. The Hot Wheels–like Spark sits an unspecified amount lower on Bahia Red–finished 18-inch wheels, which accents the Carbon Flash Gray exterior featuring dozens and dozens of matte black bow ties.
Spark Z-Spec The missions of the Spark Z-Spec seems to be twofold: One, highlight all the neat accessories available for the Spark in Chevrolet's accessory catalog. And two, show the world just how much Salsa Red can be applied to a single microscopic hatch. The body kit, the Z-Spec grille, the stainless steel pedal covers and sill plates, and the coil-over suspension all can be ordered direct from the General. Meanwhile, the exterior is Salsa Red, the concept-only 15-inch wheels feature Salsa Red accents, the seat inserts are Salsa Red, the door panels are Salsa Red, and the instrument panel is Salsa Red. It's a good thing, then—if Jerry Seinfeld is to be believed—that people like to say salsa, because this car comes with a Cinco de Mayo celebration's worth.
Sonic Z-Spec 2.5 If the Spark Z-Spec was all about cramming as much Salsa Red into the car as possible, the Sonic Z-Sped 2.5′s game is to see how many different colors can be applied to a single subcompact sedan. Abalone White, Galvano Silver, Signal Red, Jet Black, Orange Crust, and Piano Black all are featured inside and out. Done up in a number of those colors is a new body kit and front fascia, 18-inch wheels, a new spoiler, and a leather- and suede-filled interior. But this white car is not all about the looks, this one actually has some performance upgrades that we're a little excited about. The Sonic Z-Spec 2.5 is lowered by an unspecified amount and gets performance dampers, 16-inch brake rotors with four-piston calipers in the front, a cold-air intake, and a Borla exhaust system.
Sonic Z-Spec 1 Performance-wise, the Sonic Z-Spec 1 isn't too dissimilar from the Sonic Z-Spec 2.5: they both receive the same exhaust system, the same suspension kit, and the same brake upgrade. The 1 then adds a Synergy Green and Ashen Grey paint job, which is extended to the 18-inch wheels, the rear spoiler taken from the Sonic RS, the Z-Spec graphics, and the grille surround. The Z-Spec also gets a few goodies from Chevrolet Accessories in the stainless steel pedals and doorsill plats, and a body kit.
Cruze Upscale If this Vegas-bound concept is anything to go by, dark colors are classy. The body-kitted Cruze Upscale is finished in Burnished Brandy Metallic with tinted windows hiding from sight a Loft Brown leather-trimmed interior with yellow accent stitching; it rides on 19-inch Black Ice–finished wheels; oh, and the head- and fog lights are tinted for good measure, too. But the upmarket treatment isn't limited to just the car's looks, it also receives an adjustable coil-over suspension and vented and drilled rotors front and back, clamped by four-piston calipers up front and two-pistons in the rear.
