Dusk Falls on the Chevy Sonic

There's apparently a darker side to Chevrolet's Sonic subcompact car, and Chevy has given it a name: the Sonic Dusk. The more aggressive-looking Sonic was first seen in concept form at the 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, and the production Dusk will make it to dealer showrooms in 2014.

The Dusk package includes ground effects, a rear spoiler and 18-inch aluminum wheels in a Pearl Nickel finish. Also added to the Ashen Grey-colored Sonic are several matte exterior-trim pieces, including the upper and lower grilles, door handle inserts and rear license plate trim.

Power remains unchanged. The Sonic comes with a 138-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Chevrolet intends the Dusk version to be more sophisticated than the sporty RS trim. Inside, there's Jet Black leather and suede seats with Mojave tan inserts; the Mojave palette continues with accent stitching and tan color trim and panels throughout the interior. A touch-screen featuring Chevy's MyLink multimedia system is also part of the package.

When will it go on sale? Chevy isn't being specific. Spokeswoman Annalisa Bluhm told Cars.com that the package will be available in 2014; no pricing details were revealed.
