LeMons Halloween Hooptiefest Inspections: Saabs, Volvos, a Solara, and Gangnam Style [Photo Gallery]

The last time we came to New Hampshire Motor Speedway, in May, we were floored by surrealism of the self-towing trailer race car. This time, we're bewildered by the combination of fall weather in New England, disturbing Halloween costumes, and the biggest arsenal of LeMons-style potato cannons we've ever seen.

The team that brought this bone-stock, slushbox-equipped Taurus wagon can't understand why we love their car so much. If only we could get some more of these, along with some Chrysler LHs and maybe a Mitsubishi Diamante or two, all in the same race . . .

LeMons teams often dress in costume, but the proximity of Halloween (and our promise to drop the Saturday-morning green flag on the team with the best costumes) increased the costume rate from the usual 25 percent to more like 75 percent.

Black Gold!

The track is holding a potato-cannon contest on Saturday night, so this cannon-equipped disco-Datsun is really a Discotechnical.

Of course, our favorite LeMons Datsuns come with pushrod A14 engines.

Back in 2007, we saw teams with "Don't Taze Me Bro" themes. Last year, it was Charlie Sheen. The Next Big Thing In LeMons themes appears to be K-Pop sensation PSY, but it's going to take a lot to outdo the Three Pedal Mafia's choreographed "Gangnam Style" presentation for their Honda Civic 4WD Wagovan race car.

You may remember Three Pedal Mafia's Index of Effluency-winning Sea Sprite race car (a 19-foot boat mounted on a Chevy S10 chassis) from April's Real Hoopties of New Jersey race. The "Boat Car" is back, and this two-vehicle team has upgraded their Sea Sprite's theme to a New England-appropriate Tea Partay homage.

Check in Saturday night to see how the first race session goes!
