Lying in Wait? Maserati Plugs Ghibli Sedan in Whispered, Sneaky “Strike” Super Bowl Ad

Maserati Ghibli Strike

Think Maserati was messing around when it revealed plans to seriously amp up its global sales presence? Things should have looked pretty serious after the Italian automaker recently introduced not only a new Quattroporte, but the smaller and less-expensve Ghibli, too. Well, America, consider yourself served, because Maserati's surprise Super Bowl ad (embedded below) not only was pretty cool, but also put the Ghibli on a couple million TV screens—while looking cool.

This kind of exposure is a big deal, because the Ghibli is intended to go head-to-head with German luxury marques and rake in sales and conquest buyers. Obviously, the more eyeballs that lock onto the Ghibli, the better, at least for Maserati. As for the ad itself it purports Maserati has caught the competition "sleeping" and is poised to "strike." The spot is clever, and the glorious Italianate exhaust notes at the end should get folks' attention. Let us know what you think in the Backfires comments section below:
