Leave it to Mercedes-Benz to describe surfer Garrett McNamara as being "more than satisfied with the result" of his collaborative efforts with the German automaker to design four surfboards. Something tells us the German engineers at Benz's Sindelfingen design center were far more thrilled with the "extreme testing" and wind-tunnel exercises with the boards than with the concept of surfing itself.

Either way, the boards were designed to handle the huge waves off the Portugese coast at Nazaré, and are precision fits for McNamara's dimensions. Happily, those engineers aren't done poking and prodding the surfboards—they're looking to rig them up with telemetry to better understand their dynamics for better performance optimization.
