A Speedier Bentley Continental GT Speed for 2015 [2014 Geneva Auto Show]

Bentley Adds More Power to 2015 Bentley Continental GT Speed

There is no such thing as too much power, is there? We believe that a lot of Bentley customers would agree with this statement, and will make good use of the 626 horsepower under the hood of the 2015 Continental GT Speed that's being introduced at the Geneva auto show.

That's an increase of 10 horses over the previous GT Speed's output. And there's an even more-intense rush of torque from the new GT Speed's twin-turbocharged W-12 engine, which climbs from 590 to 605 lb-ft. The impressive result: Bentley claims a top speed of 203 mph for the convertible and 206 mph for the coupe. The result is a speedier claimed terminal velocity than the last-generation Continental Supersports, and one that's comfortably beyond the reach of the Rolls-Royce Wraith, the Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG (and its upcoming S-class coupe successor), and the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante. Even more importantly, it is quite a bit faster than Bentley's own Continental V8 S.

Visually, the Continental GT Speed is differentiated from the lesser W-12 models—and last year's GT Speed—by a horizontal fin in the left and right front air intakes, a front splitter, side skirts, and a rear-diffuser treatment from the Mulliner parts bin, as well as tinted headlamps and taillamps. "Speed" badges abound inside and out.

The entire Continental range gets a few upgrades for 2014: The indispensable rearview camera and a handcrafted stowage case are now standard on all V-8 and W-12 models. Bentley has also expanded the option list. Too much is not enough, right?
