blind man speed record

The Turkish blind pop singer Metin Senturk has defied the odds when he singlehandedly drove his Ferrari F430 with 600hp engine at 181.44miles per hour. The event took place at the runway of an airport in the eastern Turkish town of Urfa.

With this attempt, he has registered his name in the Guinness World Records for the fastest speed by an unaccompanied blind person. However, his achievement has come with the help of former rally driver Volkan Isik, who drove after him and gave him instructions through an earpiece inside his helmet.

The attempt was the project of the Handicapped Association, founded by Metin Senturk. The new record will replace the previous one set by a British bank manager, Mike Newman, at a speed of 176.47 mph.

Metin, however, doesn’t want to stop here and has the intentions to add 20 more kilometers to what he achieved at the present, thus putting a stern challenge to anyone who wants to overtake him in the fast pursuit.
