We initially reported that BMW and Kvadrat, a Danish Textile Company, have something special for this year’s Milan design week. Here it is. A sculpture inspired by BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo unveiled by Milan-based architectural designer Patricia Urquiola and Italian designer Giulio Ridolfo.

Christened as ‘The Dwelling Lab’, the project was jointly sponsored by the BMW, Kvadrat and Italian lighting firm Flos. The sculpture features five geometrical cones impacted into the car. Giulio Ridolfo picked up the 700 meters of Kvadrat’s Max fabric which is wrapped around the frames to create the artistry.

The Dwelling Lab also flaunts different textile for the interior, OLED lighting that are meant to be soft and inviting. There are several other unexpected details and accessories to create sensory experience and a mood of leisure.

The project is intended to enhance the spirit of the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo and five cones provide five different points of view into the vehicle. The project is introduced at Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan anytime between April 14th-19th, 2010.
