We earlier heard about Mercedes Benz working on shooting brake version of its new CLS, now it’s a reality. Dubbed Shooting Break concept, instead of Shooting Brake, Mercedes-Benz is all set to debut its latest design exercise at 2010 Beijing Auto Show.
Hailed as a concept that gives a further insight by Mercedes designers into the possible future development of the Coupé concept, the model seems, from the first sight, to be a mix of F800 Style Concept, the SLS AMG and the FASCINATION concept.
Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break Concept will be powered by a new 3.5L V6 engine churning out 306-hp and a maximum of 273 lb-ft torque. The model also features a BlueEFFICIENCY technology to increase fuel-savings.
On the other, Mercedes Benz explains clearly in its press release about the shooting brake and why the car is called the Shooting Break. Here are some excerpts:
Break, or the homonym Brake, was the name once given to carriages used to ‘break’ in wild horses and also to restrict (or ‘brake’) their urge to move, so that they could be put to use as work horses,” Mercedes-Benz explains. “Any such vehicle that was used when going out shooting was called a Shooting Brake or Shooting Break. In the 1960s and 1970s, motorized Shooting Breaks were popular in Great Britain.
The shooting break concept’s interior is the combination of natural wood and leather materials. Also, there is a full-length center console and four-seat layout now typical of cars in this new market segment.
