Such huge vehicles are made with some definite goal in the mind. This is even true about this vehicle, EcoRoamer. Designed by Jay Shapiro and built on a modified Ford F-650 chassis, EcoRoamer is to take Jay, his wife, their two kids and two cats on a world tour, without emitting even a single gram carbon.
Built with the purpose to traverse around the planet without damaging it a wee bit, EcoRoamer, as the name suggests, is eco friendly and has a Caterpillar C7 engine that runs on biodiesel.
Cat C7 engine produces 850 pound feet of torque and is equipped with 42-inch tires that make it ideal for on and off the road commute. On the other, EcoRoamer has not only its living space built from recycled materials, but also uses solar panels for most of its auxiliary power.
This is not all and the only home for Shapiro family has all the necessities of modern life like NASA-designed water-purifying system, broadcasts WiFi a mile-wide wireless computing, shower, and kitchen.
Further, the 34,000-pound truck has two tanks with the capacity to hold 130 gallons of fuel. The all terrain vehicle has the fuel efficiency of 6.5-mpg and can travel 750 miles without refueling.
And among the other major features are a communications equipment operating through a Windows XP-powered Panasonic ToughBook, a CB/VHF unit for communicating with other travelers, emergency services, and truckers… and god knows what not but everything.
