The latest volley of Korean automaker into the mid size sedan segment is 2011 Kia Optima that it reveled at the New York Auto show. This vehicle though has close affinities to recently launched Hyundai sonata yet it’s completely different styling from its corporate sibling.

With the identical dimensions and same powertrain, the top of the line Kia Optima will be powered by a 2.0L turbo petrol engine that produces 278 PS. The 2011 Kia Optima will also be available with the following options in Europe: 1.7-liter VGT CRDi, 2.0-liter CVVL petrol and 2.4-liter MPI petrol.

However, for the rest of the world Kia will be available with the engine options that include a 2.0-liter MPI 165 ps, 2.4-liter MPI 178 ps, and 2.4-liter GDI 203 ps. The vehicle will be available by the fall of this year.

Each of the engines features direct injection and variable valve timing and are mated to six-speed transmissions, with the base model being available with a manual and the others being all automatic.
