2015 Autorama: 132 Photos of Detroit’s Spring (Automotive) Fling

Autorama! 1932 Ford High-Boy Hot rod, hot red-painted accents. Bugnaughty Bugnaughty A less extreme Delahaye, sans naughtiness. Bro, do you even flower print? Old Chevy C-10s are just the best. This '68, however, seemed too clean to even drive on manicured roads, let alone put to work on a farm. A purpose-built Chevy Camaro drag car with a roll cage, racing seats, and an assuredly monster engine? Yes, please. This 1956 Chevy is pretty mild, save for those massive-looking wheels. Check their width! Dark brown over tan? Yep, it definitely works on this old-school Lincoln Continental. Note to Lincoln: Bring back suicide doors. That is all. Racing liveries and Corvettes, two things match-made in heaven. Parked right next to the '50s racing Vette was this, a C2 split-window fuelie. We found this one beneath the hood of an early '90s Ford F-150. rat rod rat rod More worn-down rat-rod goodness: a '40 Ford. Just seconds after this photo was taken, the bare-metal finish on this hot rod rusted when an onlooker let slip that Autorama was located in Detroit. Easily the winner of our unofficial "Most Extreme Wheel-to-Body-Size Proportion" award. Steampunk meets liquor advertising. We'd have appreciated this copper-stamped beauty even without a free shot. But we like shots. Note how the number-four cylinder's exhaust runs apart from the front threes' header and twists around it like a heater coil. Sweet. The attention to detail on this 1930 Ford is out of this world. It's got a panoramic sunroof standard!* *Glass not included. This '41 Studebaker was another candidate for near-immediate rusting were it to be taken outside and driven on Detroit's ragged, salty roads. 1962 Volkswagen 13-window Bus 1964 Plymouth Savoy Dodge Charger restomod Palmeri Andare Ford F-100 Ranger with EcoBoost V-6 Ford F-100 Ranger with EcoBoost V-6 Ford F-100 Ranger with EcoBoost V-6 Factory Five Cobra Alfa Romeo GTV Alfa Romeo GTV Sometimes, the restomod thing can lead to stuff like this. Neither did we. For those still bitching over the modern Dodge Charger's four-door layout, may we present this? As a bonus, the shortened wheelbase brings the front and rear fender vents closer together. We're all about togetherness. Because if it does, we think it's awesome. A guy was selling unopened classic plastic model kits at Autorama. We needed to restrain ourselves. That Avanti kit has our names on it. Even the Detroit Police Department gets a kick out of Autorama.
