If you're still getting used to the idea of tuned electric cars, allow us to help warm you to the concept. Recently, Saleen Automotive announced it is juicing Tesla's Model S EV to create the FourSixteen sport sedan. Although Saleen's charged-up Tesla doesn't get a power boost, it does get a new transmission with a 11:39:1 ratio, far lower than the stock 9.73:1, which should enhance off-the-line pep. Indeed, Saleen spokesman Max Matthewson says that the company "went for acceleration" when it swapped the gears for the new straight-cut pieces. But what it got was not only a quicker car, but a better sounding one, too. And Saleen has just released this new video of a FourSixteen launching hard from a standstill for proof.

Watching the video is a low-commitment experience, taking only 22 seconds of your life, and does give an idea of how the FourSixteen sounds. Saleen promised at the sedan's Pebble Beach debut last month that the car would sound "like something that should be screaming down the Mulsanne straight" at Le Mans. Sure. We can say that the Saleen is a tad louder and screamier than a Prius. In fact, it sounds like a low-flying jet, or the world's angriest golf cart. Watch the clip below:
