Nothing is real these days, from clickbait stories clogging up your Facebook news feed to "reality" television. Everything's at least a little bit staged, and it's with that perspective we watched Volvo Trucks' latest amusing commercial. For a division of Volvo with perhaps the least-exciting products, the Trucks guys sure know how to score a chuckle from us car guys. A recent effort involved Jean-Claude van Damme doing the splits, after all.
The YouTube clip pits a rookie valet at a casino on the Italian Riviera against a parade of the hottest sports cars, the nervous-looking fellow gulping and awkwardly gaping at the model-grade women stepping out from the exotic rides. It all seems to be typical first-day-on-the-job fare . . . until a Volvo semi truck pulls up to the red carpet.

We don't ever find out how the valet manages the big rig, but Volvo ends the clip with the boast that "under the hood, it's a sports car." You see, the Volvo FH truck is available with I-Shift Dual-Clutch, a heavy-duty dual-clutch automatic transmission. While it hardly transforms the FH into a Porsche 911 competitor, the dual-clutch does speed up shift times and remove the chore of working a clutch from the truck-driving experience. And not having to climb the learning curve for a semi-truck manual transmission means that valet kid might actually have been able to drive the FH. Whether or not he completely decimated everything in sight was a different story, we're sure.
