By now, everyone should know what the 2015 Corvette Z06 looks like, as the coupe and convertible each made public debuts at high-profile auto shows this year. We also have extensive background information on its wicked supercharged V-8 engine. We even know how much it will cost. So why are we showing you photos of a partially camouflaged Z06 test mule street-parked near the University of Michigan campus? Because it just so happens that we have video of this hot Corvette revving.
In lieu of our first drive of the Z06—that happens in a couple of months—a clip of the car flaunting its 650-horsepower blown 6.2-liter V-8 is a decent consolation prize. This specific Z06 being equipped with GM's new eight-speed automatic transmission, it would appear as though it has a low rev limit when the gear selector is in park or neutral. (Either that, or the throttle-prodder wasn't as injudicious as he otherwise could have been.) It doesn't much matter to us—the LT4 engine sounds great even at low rpm. And watching the boost gauge swing through its arc as engine speed rises is giving us a tingly feeling in our right feet. Check it out:
