The results are in and a winner has been selected. As you can see by the photo, I really did write down everyone's name and throw it into an actual hat to make the selection. Although I appreciated the kind and thoughtful comments so many of you took the time to write, in the end there could be no favoritism. Thanks to everyone who entered.
Congratulations to Rcousine who told us that it was "Hard to pick a favorite recent article, but Mr. Lang's stuff is a consistent delight." It is sentiment I heartily agree with. I have sent an email to the winner asking him to reply with his real name and address so I can mail him his prize. I'll be looking for his response to come from the email address he listed when he signed up to become a commenter on our fair website, lest any of you sly dogs try to claim the prize by slipping me your own address in place of his.
