This Incredibly Hot and Rare Lamborghini Jalpa Is For Sale Right Now

Lamborghini Jalpa

-

If you mention Lamborghini and the 1980s in the same sentence, most will picture the outlandish lines of the later Countach. However, the company produced another, lesser-known model from 1981 until 1988, the Bertone-designed Jalpa, and there's a beautiful, low-mileage example for sale right now.

-

Anyone who's driven a Countach will tell you that it can be a handful, and that it's possessed of a fairly hard core. The targa-topped Jalpa was an attempt to create a softer, less expensive, and more user-friendly car that maintained the exotic panache of its V-12–powered big brother. The Jalpa was powered by a 3.5-liter V-8 that, in U.S. spec, made 250 horsepower. While it therefore lacked the muscle of the Countach, our test of a Jalpa in 1986 resulted in a still strong 0-to-60 time of 5.8 seconds.

This particular car model offered by Hyman Ltd. is a 1988 model, and is therefore one of the last Jalpas ever made. Just over 400 cars were produced globally, with somewhere around 100 making their way to America. According to the seller, this example has a shade over 25K on the clock and was most recently owned by a foreign car mechanic. If it's as clean in person as it is in the photos, we're thinking that it won't have a problem pulling all of its $115,000 asking price—although the new owner will have be prepared to explain to a lot of people what it is.
