Over a week after wage disputes shut down production, Fiat and Ford report operations are back to normal at their plants in Turkey.
Both Ford Otosan's Gölcük and Yeniköy plants, and Fiat's Tofaş saw production restart Friday after going offline for over a week, Automobile News Europe reports. The plants are responsible for building models such as the Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster City, and the upcoming Fiat Aegea set to hit showrooms in November.
The shutdown came about due to a dispute over working conditions and pay which began last month when union Turk Metal negotiated a wage hike of 60 percent for those working in a plant by Bosch Fren, neglecting to include the rest of Turkey's auto workers in so doing.
Meanwhile, Renault's joint venture with the Turkish military pension fund in Bursa remains closed, prompting the automaker to reconsider future investments into the nation's auto industry should the ongoing labor dispute present more instability.
