Remember the Outlander? Mitsubishi still makes it, and it's, well, adequate. Nothing to write home, or even to your ex-lover, about. Mitsubishi has a new Outlander ready to debut at the New York International Auto Show on April 2nd, and judging by these two teaser images the automaker just released, it'll look rather similar to the old one.
Mitsubishi says the new Outlander will debut the company's new design language, and in what little we can see of the car in these official renderings, it seems to have strong styling ties to the Outlander PHEV Concept-S we saw at the Paris Auto Show last fall. That concept, with its 204-hp gas engine and twin electric motors carried over from the production Outlander PHEV sold in the rest of the world, looked to be nearly production-ready at the time, and these renderings hold a strong family resemblance.

The carmaker says the new Outlander will feature over 100 engineering and design improvements, refined handling and throttle response, and "a more eloquent yet functional interior space." Eloquent? Will it speak with an accent straight out of Downton Abbey?

Whatever that means, we'll learn for sure on April 2nd, when Mitsubishi takes the wraps off the new Outlander. With the carmaker expecting to rely on the upcoming utility vehicle to boost sales in a post-Evo world, Mitsubishi has a lot riding on this one.
