Report: 2015 Corvette Z06 Gets 13MPG City, 23MPG Highway

2015 Corvette Z06GT Spirit claims to have gotten its hands on "leaked" 2015 Corvette Z06 fuel economy ratings. This is about as unconfirmed as unconfirmed gets, so take it with a grain of salt, but the numbers seem pretty believable: 13 MPG city, 23 on the highway, 16 combined with the 8-speed auto. Hey, 650 horses were never gonna be thrifty.

GT Spirit doesn't say where these numbers come from–they could be EPA measurements, manufacturer estimates, or back-of-the-envelope calculations from some internet commenter for all we know. It should come as no surprise that the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 powering the Z06 has a powerful thirst, considering the pushrod engine kicks out 650 horses and an equal number for torque. An 8-speed auto trans can help somewhat, as evidenced by the not-that-terrible 23 MPG highway, and with direct injection and variable valve timing the engine does the best it can to scrimp and save.

Still, this is a car with a 3524 pound curb weight, one that will reportedly sprint 0-t0-60 in 2.95 seconds, do the quarter-mile in 10.95 at 127, and stick to curves like the price tag on a dollar-store toy. If you were in the market for this beast, you weren't cross-shopping any economy models.

That is, of course, if these numbers are legit.
